Inaugural Evening with the Stars of the Kiwanis Family House a Success!

On Saturday, July 20, 2013, the stars of the Kiwanis Family House came together in the Atrium of Shriners Hospitals of Northern California to celebrate the sponsoring clubs and individual donors who support its mission at a new annual celebration:  “An Evening with the Stars of the Kiwanis Family House”.

The awards segment of the Program honored 12 sponsoring clubs and 12 individual donors for their financial contributions since 2010.  Next, Bright Award presentations were made to five individuals for their continued commitment to Kiwanis, their communities, and the Kiwanis Family House.  Throughout the program, honorees and presenters, including a former guest family, the Duffs, gave moving testimonials as to why they personally support the work of the Kiwanis Family House.

An Evening with the Stars of the Kiwanis Family House would not have been possible without a number of amazing volunteers.  The Committee included Rita Beall (chair), Lorie Deering, Sam Maley, Yoli Manzo, Ann Isaacs, Bob Isaacs, Gary Christensen, Dan Germain, Bill Hooper, George MacMurphey, Roni Stroud, and Emily Chirk.   At the event, Board Members, Kiwanians, spouses, and Sacramento State and UC Davis Circle K Club members were on hand to help with registration, serving, the Crackerjack auction, valet service, and cleanup.  And a very special recognition must be paid to Mr. Frank Hashorva of the Rancho Murieta Kiwanis Club, who came prepared with tickets and bucket to run an impromptu “50/50 Raffle” which netted the KFH another $770 that evening!!   All in all, the event was a huge success, and the KFH Board and planning committee are planning more surprises for the 2nd Annual Evening with the Stars of the Kiwanis Family House, scheduled for next July to coincide with Kiwanis Family House’s 30 Anniversary.  You won’t want to miss it!
