Who is eligible to stay at the Kiwanis Family House?
Eligible guests at the Kiwanis Family House have family members being treated at the UC Davis Health System and live 35 miles or more from Sacramento. Each guest is referred from the UC Davis Health System, either by the medical staff or social worker. The UC Davis Health System refers families of patients being treated in all of their medical departments, including Trauma and Emergency Surgery, medical, Children’s Hospital, the Cancer Center, and the M.I.N.D. Institute.

Do only pediatric patient families stay at the Kiwanis Family House?
While our mission is to serve families of pediatric patients at the UC Davis Health System, rooms are available at the Kiwanis Family House to adult patients and their families.

How long do families normally stay at the Kiwanis Family House?
The average length of stay is about a month, however, there is not time limit regarding length of stay at the Kiwanis Family House. Families can stay one day, or as long as they need.

Who supports the Kiwanis Family House?
Kiwanis Clubs in the California-Nevada-Hawaii district and the community at large provide support. You can support the Kiwanis Family House by contributing financially or donating supplies or volunteering.

How can I offer support?
There are many ways to support the Kiwanis Family House. Whether you choose to drop off some household supplies or canned goods, make a financial contribution, or volunteer your time – the ways to support are infinite.

Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes! The Kiwanis Family House is a non-profit organization and is classified by the IRS as a 501(c)(3), with an IRS issued federal ID #68-0016996. Therefore, donations qualify for maximum tax benefits allowable by the IRS.

What about volunteers?
A network of many volunteers operates the Family House twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Front desk volunteers are needed every day to assist the families checking in and out and to answer the telephone. Volunteers are also needed at the UCDMC Foundation gift Shop at UC Davis Medical Center, a major supporter of the Kiwanis Family House. Is food provided for guests at the Kiwanis Family House?
Guests buy and cook their own food in the Kiwanis Family House kitchen. However, there is a food closet available with emergency food supplies.

Is RV parking available at the Kiwanis Family House?
Yes, RV parking is available: 7 RV spaces with full hook-ups for families of patients being treated at the UC Davis Health System.
