Stockton Kiwanis Club Donates $25,000
to Kiwanis Family House
Sacramento, Ca., November 18, 2005 — The Stockton California Kiwanis Club made a major donation to the Kiwanis Family House during a special presentation today.
Dedicated to providing temporary housing and support to families of seriously ill or injured children being treated at the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. The current House is at capacity and can no longer accommodate the number of families needing temporary housing - As many as 10 families a day are being turned away due to lack of space.
The existing Kiwanis Family House was opened in 1984 to house families of children being treated at the UC Davis Medical Center. The current Family House will continue operation until the new Family House is completed in the summer of 2006.
The Kiwanis Family House is expanding to a new location 2875 50th Street, Sacramento. The Kiwanis Club of Stockton is donating $25,000 to the capital campaign fund of the Kiwanis Family House.
Olive Davis, a board member of the Kiwanis Club of Stockton proposed the donation amount to the Kiwanis Family House. “The Kiwanis Family House serves families from all over the United States plus many foreign countries,” said Davis. "Serving the Children of the World is definitely being carried out by the Kiwanis Family House. We feel the money is well spent.”
The Kiwanis Club of Stockton was established on March 22, 1922 and has 60 members which 9 of whom work voluntary at the Kiwanis Family House front desk three days a month. The Kiwanis Club of Stockton is a sponsoring club for the Family House.
